Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most visited park and an essential stop for any traveler. Its fame comes from its remarkable wildlife variety and scenic beauty. The park is home to over 95 mammal species, including elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and the famous tree-climbing lions of Ishasha. The opportunity to see these lions perched lazily in fig trees is one of the park’s most unique attractions.

The Kazinga Channel boat cruise is a highlight that sets Queen Elizabeth apart from other destinations. This natural waterway links Lake Edward and Lake George and is teeming with hippos, crocodiles, and diverse birdlife. Guests can enjoy close-up views of animals as they gather along the channel to drink or cool off.

The park is also a paradise for birders, boasting more than 600 bird species — one of the highest diversities in Africa. From African skimmers to martial eagles, birdwatchers are spoiled for choice. The crater lakes scattered across the park add yet another dimension, offering breathtaking views and salt-mining experiences.

Cultural visits to local communities around the park also enrich the safari experience. Visitors can learn traditional practices such as salt harvesting, craft-making, and music, gaining a deeper connection to the people who live harmoniously with the wildlife.
